The PS3 is dead, long live the PS3!

This weekend, I took advantage of a $70 Best Buy Reward cert. and a $20 gift card, and bought a new Slim PS3 during Best Buy's "Buy a PS3, get a $50 Gift Card" deal.

I've had a original model 60GB, backward compatible PS3 since 2005, and I love that machine. It's been like a tank, plowing through everything I've thrown at it. That is, until recently when it's stopped reading select Blu-Ray movies I've bought. All the movie's I've owned before work fine and have continued to work fine. However, It's been completely random that I might buy 4 Blu-Rays and 1 wont work. (Yes, my firmware was up to date. Also the discs worked in my Dad's PS3.) I actually got up to 12 movies not working in my collection, and that was the breaking point...

So with all these discs not working (This is my only Blu-Ray Player and playing movies is my PS3's primary function) and the fact that I was getting occasional other weird glitches, I decided to pick up a new one. I really like the slim model too, it's nice and quiet and much more compact. Only complaint is the lack of card readers built in (At least I have a USB card reader) and the lack of backwards compatibility (Guess I'll have to pick up a new PS2). I moved my larger HDD from the old PS3 and copied over all my data, now I just need to re-download all my PSN purchases. That sure is a bitch...
