And somehow you've got everybody fooled

April Fools day...

You won't have to worry about any tacky jokes or tricks on this blog...Although that's mostly because I'm too lazy, and that'd be a lot of work to do, considering no one would be reading it.

I actually remember the day when I ran a website with a friend, and I used to put days of effort leading up to April 1st, designing and creating a gag that would be on the site for only a day. Even then, we had so few visitors that it was not worth it.

This is the one day of the year where you aren't sure if you can believe everything that is said on the net (isn't it actually like that everyday? Lawl). There are some jokes out there that are hilarious, some that are completely awful, and a few that are frustrating.

For example, some of the worst I have seen today have come from the Channel Awesome crew. I'm not going to get into it, but one was so bad that it was removed from Blistered Thumbs already. There's also Linkara's 'parody' of angry reviewers, which ends up saying more about him, considering it's just a slightly exagerated version of how he usually acts.

Good ones? Check out Hulu. They altered their entire site to look like it would had it existed back in 1996. From the frames, poor images, crappy geocities color choices, to the newly added X-Files episode (Guest Starring up-and-comer Lucy Liu.) this was a well thought out joke, and is hilarious. They even got the small details down like a "Best Viewed in Netscape Navigator" button.

As for frustrating, anything by Think Geek. They come up with such awesome products for their jokes. I wish they were real and that I could buy them. Granted, they have made some of their joke items into real items in the past, but not every item gets that treatment, and knowing my luck my favorites will remain fictional.

And of course, Maddox updated his site today for the first time in a year for a half assed, unfunny joke. Remember when that guy was relevant?

So, true believers, keep your eyes peeled today for some jokes. Some will be good, many will be bad, so try to sort through the shit and find the true gems that actually are witty and have some thought behind them.
